His research examines how digital technologies change value creation in increasingly distributed and decentralized socio-technical systems, from workgroups and companies to networked ecosystems. He studies the organizational consequences of Artificial Intelligence, blockchain, and the Internet of Things, and what they mean for corporate strategy, governance, and digital knowledge work. With a quantitative focus, his work combines computational data science, mixed methods, and design science.

Background

Nico holds a doctorate (Dr. rer. pol.) in Information Systems from the AACSB-accredited Faculty of Economics and Business Administration at Goethe University Frankfurt. During his PhD, he was a Fellow Research Scholar at the Department of Information Systems and the School of Creative Media at City University of Hong Kong. In 2023, he was a visiting researcher at the University of Southern California in Los Angeles. This international, interdisciplinary path shapes his work by connecting economics, psychology, and technology to produce insights that are rigorous and useful in practice.

Scientific Advice

Organizations adopting Artificial Intelligence, blockchain, or IoT rarely struggle with technology alone.
